The Bohol tourism office presents Balicasag chiefly as a diving destination with snorkeling and island-hopping options. That is a useful starting point; it is not a complete booking. A boat carrying divers, a guided snorkel and a shore stop ask different things of the operator and the guest.

Choose snorkeling or diving first
For a snorkel, ask whether a guide is in the water, what equipment is supplied, where the boat will stop and whether the price includes local and environmental charges. For scuba, ask which dive sites and depths suit your certification and experience, who will lead the dive and how the operator handles a change in conditions.
Named local operators make comparison concrete. These are comparison leads, not tested endorsements; request current written offers from more than one operator.

The boat trip is part of the product
Confirm the exact departure beach or port, meeting time, return place, number of passengers, shade, drinking water, luggage plan and cancellation terms. The boat crossing and sea state can change the day more than a photograph of the reef.

Turtles are a possibility, not a booking inclusion
Sea turtles are part of Balicasag’s appeal, but no operator can reserve one for you. Bohol’s 2026 marine-wildlife policy summary describes controls against feeding, touching and harassing marine wildlife.

Get the complete price in writing
Ask for one total that separates boat, guide, gear, park or environmental fees, island stop, food and any optional add-on. A cheap headline can become a different product once those parts are added.
Current fees and permit arrangements should be confirmed for the exact booking date. Older municipal fee schedules circulate online, but their age alone makes them a poor substitute for a current operator quote and the responsible authority’s instructions.

Balicasag suits a traveller who actively wants time in the water and is comfortable with a boat trip. If your priority is simply a relaxed beach day, the Panglao beaches guide gives easier land-based choices.
