Panglao has plenty of beds: the provincial planning office counted 391 accommodation establishments with 6,297 rooms in 2024 (Bohol PPDO). Far fewer are resorts in the full sense, with pools, restaurants, a spa or kids' club and ideally sand beyond the garden. The province's May 2026 accreditation list classes 21 Panglao properties as resorts (one, Donatela, has since closed).

This guide groups the main ones by type, using each resort's own website for facilities and location, checked on 28 September 2026. It is a researched comparison, not a ranking from stays. If you have not chosen an area yet, read where to stay in Panglao first.

How to choose a resort

Five questions narrow the list quickly:

  • Is it actually on the beach? Several well-known names are not. Solea Coast, for example, gives Alona as 1.8 km away (Solea).
  • What is the shore in front like? Alona and Dumaluan are sand, and Dumaluan shelves gently (municipal tourism office). Bluewater describes its own frontage as rocky, with swimming easiest at high tide (Bluewater); Doljo shows shallow pools at low tide (tourism office).
  • Which pool will you use? Count the pools, ask whether one is kept for staying guests, and look at rooms with direct pool access, which all three Henann resorts sell.
  • How big? Henann Alona has 400 rooms and a convention center; Amorita has 98 rooms, suites and villas. Bigger usually means more restaurants and busier pools.
  • How far from Alona? Alona has the restaurants, dive shops and boats. Doljo and Bolod are quieter but mean a ride to dinner.

What “beachfront” really means here

No Panglao resort owns the shoreline. Article 51 of the Water Code places a strip along the sea under an easement of public use, for recreation and fishing among other things, and nothing may be built on it. In Panglao that strip is 20 meters, and the municipality adds 10 more, making a 30-meter no-build zone, according to local officials (BusinessMirror). A “private beach” therefore usually means the resort controls the land and gate behind the sand, not the sand itself.

Enforcement has been patchy: in 2019 an official told BusinessMirror that fewer than half the resorts along Alona complied.

At Alona, the beach itself is changing. The national tourism infrastructure agency's shoreline rehabilitation includes a seawall along the beach; it was still under way when officials inspected it on 18 August 2026, with ropes or barriers planned along its edge (SunStar). A February 2026 Manila Times column argued the sand is disappearing. If the beach matters, ask for recent photos of the shore in front of your room.

Ask about the water, too: in September 2024 the provincial environment office reported high coliform near Alona at every tide (Bohol Tribune).

Panglao resorts by type

Each entry gives the barangay, whether the resort is on the beach, its main facilities from its own website, and a rough price level for a standard double checked on 28 September 2026: moderate is under about ₱4,000 a night, mid-range ₱4,000–8,000, upper ₱8,000–12,000 and top above that. Where a resort's own booking page showed no rate, the level comes from booking sites such as Kayak. Rates move with dates, so check your own.

Large beachfront resorts

  • Henann Resort Alona BeachTawala, on Alona Beach; beachfront. 400 rooms, three pools, Kai Spa and five restaurants and bars. Upper: its booking page showed ₱9,099 for a deluxe room with breakfast for the night of 29 September 2026.
  • Henann Premier Coast ResortTawala, on Alona Beach; beachfront. Henann's newest, with a sky pool, rooms with direct pool access or beach views, and a Filipino restaurant overlooking the beach. Upper to top: ₱14,007 for a beach-view room for the same night.
  • Henann Tawala ResortTawala, inside the Henann complex beside the convention center; not on the sand itself, but guests use the Alona beachfront. 210 rooms, many with direct pool access, and a sunken pool bar. Mid-range to upper.
  • South Palms Resort and Spa Panglao, MGalleryTawala, on the south coast east of Alona, near Dumaluan; beachfront. Infinity pool, three restaurants, spa, kids' club, PADI courses and a sunken plane to snorkel 150 meters offshore. Top.
  • Bohol Beach ClubBolod; beachfront on a large stretch of sand. 88 rooms, a pool, rooms with ramp entry and grab bars and pet-friendly rooms. Upper: its June–November 2026 overnight rate for Philippine residents was ₱8,000–10,000 for a deluxe room with breakfast (rates).
  • The Bellevue Resort BoholDoljo, on the quieter west coast; beachfront. Pool, Azurea Spa, kids' play area and gym. Mid-range to upper: offers from ₱6,150 a night with breakfast.
  • Modala Beach ResortDoljo; beachfront, on what the resort calls a one-kilometer white-sand beach. Ocean-, sunset- and garden-view rooms, plus Moadto Strip, a mall with bars and live music. Mid-range.
  • BE Grand Resort, BoholDanao; oceanfront, according to the resort. 189 rooms and suites, 19 villas, five restaurants and bars, a gym and a dive center. Mid-range. Ask what the shore in front is like: Danao's water is easiest for swimming at high tide, says the tourism office.

Smaller upscale or boutique

  • Amorita ResortTawala, on a limestone cliff at the end of Alona; not on the sand; ask the resort how guests reach Alona Beach below. 98 rooms, suites and pool villas, two infinity pools and Sea Tree Spa. Upper.
  • Oceanica Resort PanglaoBolod; beachfront. The original South Palms, renamed: 78 rooms and villas, including beachfront categories, a seafood restaurant, spa cabanas and produce from the neighboring South Farm. Mid-range to upper.
  • Amarela ResortLibaong; small beachfront resort with an infinity pool, rooms made by local artisans and Philippine art throughout; its Bohol House has a private pool. Upper, going by booking sites.
  • Eskaya Beach Resort & SpaTawala. Closed for a redesign; the resort says its new villas and wellness sanctuary open in 2027.

Mid-range resorts with pools

  • Bluewater Panglao Beach ResortSitio Daorong, Danao; beachfront, though the resort describes a naturally rocky shoreline. 82 rooms, two lagoon-shaped pools and a spa, about seven minutes' drive from Alona. Mid-range.
  • Best Western Plus The Ivywall Resort-PanglaoOn Alona Beach, registered in Danao; beachfront. 80 rooms with balconies, a pool, seaside garden, children's playground and rooftop deck. Moderate to mid-range.
  • Alona Vida Beach ResortTawala, in the middle of Alona; beachfront since 2005, with the Cocovida bar and a live band nightly. Its larger pool and jacuzzi are at the Beach Hill branch, a 10-minute walk away. Moderate.
  • The Panglao Pearl PremierDaorong, Danao; beachfront according to listing sites. Formerly Linaw Beach Resort, with a pool, pool bar, restaurant and spa (Wanderlog). Moderate. Its own website failed a security check on 28 September 2026, so book through a channel you know.
  • Solea Coast Resort PanglaoSitio Daorong, Danao; not beachfront. Main and kids' pools, a lobby slide, the Happy Pebbles kids' club and a rooftop bar. Moderate.

Dauis side

  • Mithi Resort & SpaBingag, Dauis; beachfront, with about half a kilometer of white sand. Opened in 1998 as Panglao Island Nature Resort (history); 14 hectares, sea-view villas with private jacuzzis, a spa and a tennis court. Mid-range to upper.
  • Bohol Bee FarmDao, Dauis; a farm with rooms, not a beach resort: sea-view pool, organic restaurant and farm tours. Rooms ₱3,000–7,000 a night on its own site.

Day passes

Of the resort websites checked for this guide, Bluewater's is the one that publishes a day pass: ₱1,200 per adult and ₱600 per child aged 5 to 11, with pool use from 11am to 8pm, a ₱1,000 food and drink credit per adult (₱400 per child) and non-motorised water sports. Day guests share one of the two pools; the other is kept for staying guests (Bluewater, checked 28 September 2026).

Oceanica sells day use through booking platforms such as Traveloka: 8am to 5pm, with the infinity pool, the beach, 30 minutes of kayak or paddleboard and entry to South Farm, but no meals. We found no day-use offer on the Bellevue, Modala, Amorita or Bohol Beach Club websites, so ask those resorts directly.

Booking tips: accreditation, direct or booking site

Check that the resort is accredited by the Department of Tourism. The Bohol tourism office publishes the accreditation list; the May 2026 edition runs to 31 October 2026, so look again after that date. A missing name is not proof of a problem, but it is a good reason to ask the resort for its current certificate.

Booking direct helps when the resort publishes the extras. Henann lists shared airport transfers at ₱300 per person each way for its Alona resort and ₱430 at Premier Coast (minimum two people), and Bluewater quotes ₱800 each way for up to three adults. Read the terms, though: Henann's cheapest direct rate for 29 September required full, non-refundable prepayment (Henann). Booking sites sometimes offer free cancellation for more, so compare like with like.

Alona Vida warns guests about fake Facebook pages taking bookings; pay only through the resort's own website or a booking site you know. Before paying, confirm:

  • the exact room category: beach view, garden view or direct pool access
  • whether the rate is for Philippine residents only, as Bohol Beach Club's 2026 packages are
  • whether tax and any service charge are included
  • the transfer price and pickup point

Common questions

What is the best resort in Panglao?

It depends on the trip. For the most facilities on Alona's sand, look at the Henann resorts; for a newer, design-led beachfront stay, South Palms; for a quieter beach-first stay, Bohol Beach Club, Oceanica or The Bellevue; for a clifftop splurge, Amorita; for Dauis seclusion, Mithi. This guide compares fit, not tested quality.

Which Panglao resorts are beachfront?

Henann Resort Alona Beach, Henann Premier Coast, Best Western Plus Ivywall and Alona Vida on Alona; South Palms, Bohol Beach Club and Oceanica east of it; The Bellevue and Modala in Doljo; Bluewater in Danao, along with BE Grand (oceanfront; ask about the shore) and The Panglao Pearl Premier (beachfront according to listing sites; ask about the shore); Amarela in Libaong; and Mithi in Dauis. Solea Coast and Henann Tawala are not on the sand, and Amorita sits on a cliff above it.

Are there all-inclusive resorts in Panglao?

Not in the usual sense. The direct rates checked for this guide, at Henann, The Bellevue and Bohol Beach Club, include breakfast; some resorts add meal credits or packages. Booking sites' “all-inclusive” filters still list Panglao properties, so check exactly which meals and drinks a rate covers.

Which resorts are near the airport?

The Alona resorts are closest: Henann says 8 to 10 minutes, Amorita 10 minutes, and Best Western Plus Ivywall is 3.4 km by road. South Palms is five to 15 minutes, depending on the source (Accor, TTG Asia). The tourism office puts Doljo, home to The Bellevue and Modala, 15 to 20 minutes away. Can I use a resort's pool without staying there?

At some. Bluewater sells a day pass on its own website and Oceanica sells day use through booking platforms. Elsewhere, ask the resort before you go.
